After my Hounds of Love shootout I did some comparisons of The Who's Tommy.
Once again the simply Vinyl issue stomped the original English pressing and the
American pressing. I have the Nick Drake Pink Moon reissue by Simply Vinyl and
it is amazing. I have nothing to compare it to. I am begining to think this is
a great reissue label that got some bad press. I looked at their catalog and
they have many essential titles. Any idea how they got a bad rep in the press?

Because some of their earlier releases were transcribed from CDs.

Their American titles tend to be CD transfers, but their British pressings
are mostly from the analog master tapes. And the reason their offerings
are held in suspicion is because they won't come clean as to which
pressings are from analog master tapes and which ones are not.

Right. Michael Fremer was pressuring the label to come clean, and he
recommended that people refrain from buying any LPs from them until they did.

Would you happen to know which titles to avoid?

I guess I'll take my chances. Thier catalog is really amazing. I'll post all
results of future purchases good and bad. For now....

Kate Bush Hounds of Love
The Who Tommy
Nick Drake Pink Moon

Major winners.

Yeah, it's too bad, 'cause there was a lot of their LPs I was interested in, but who
wants to buy 180 gm vinyl pressings sourced from CD transfers at 30 bucks a pop?

I got two Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green era) lp's of theirs that
were simply awful, and so expensive. They were all mucked up.
Now I know why.
And they were so expensive, too. On the otherhand, Sundazed lp's are cheap,
and sound great

Sundazed is da bomb. It's kind of difficult to spend a lot of money on
so-called audiophile LPs when Sundazed has a great catalog and they're going
for $14.98 each.

Well, I know to stay away from those titles. Good tip. I am happy with the
Dylan Sundazed reissues and The Byrds reissues (although one has to realize the
original recordings obviously suck) but I was very disappointed in Dusty
Springfield's Dusty in Memphis. It was very bright.

Krueger's unprovoked smears were just a typical example of his average audio
post - filled with prejudicial bull****, false claims and hatemongering. No
wonder this lying hypocrite is so widely depised and ridiculed!

Arny, if you have anything to contribute the subject matter of the thread, that
being the sound quality of various titles from Simply Vinyl, please feel free
to do so. Thus far all you have done is crap on the thread twice. You could
always choose to act like a normal human being and stay out of a discussion you
know nothing about and restrict yourself to reading the thread and learning
from it.

No, I answered two questions that were quite clearly expressed.

You could always choose to act like a normal

restrict yourself to reading the thread and learning from it.

The questions were asked and I gave relevant answers.

The second response was due to your defensiveness, sockpuppet Wheel, You
could have minimized my impact on this thread by keeping your big yap shut,
but you couldn't help yourself, could you?

Given all the technical threads that the vinyl bigots on RAO have crapped on
over the years, you've got quite a few dues left to pay, sockpuppet wheel.
As usual, you guys can dish it out, but you can't take it.

Since you clearly have no interest in better sound it is very unlikely that you
would care. But, as you imply here, if you don't care, why do you continue to
crap on a thread that was strictly audio in content until you crapped on it?

You did not offer any meaningful answers to any questions asked in the thread.
You used a question as an excuse to make an idiotic prejudicial attack on the
medium. Your answer didn't relate to the specific question regarding Simply
vinyl reissues in any way.

I would have gladly paid 30 bucks an album for 180 gm pressings of audiophile-quality
music that I like if I know beforehand it's sourced from the original analog master tapes.

But thanks for displaying your arrogance/ignorance when it comes to listening on what
medium recorded music sounds best on (apart from the original analog master tapes).

With much classic vinyl, those original analog master tapes never existed.
The only masters that ever existed are digital.

Spoken like someone who is very ignorant of the amount of classic vinyl that
was mastered from digital in the 1970's and 1980's.

Actually, only a very tiny potion of "classic vinyl" was mastered in
digital when veiewed as a proportion of total releases.

But thanks for displaying your arrogance/ignorance when it comes to

Spoken like someone who can't prove his statements. Only a miniscule
portion of vinyl was mastered from digital in the 70s. The first
digitally recorded and mastered pop album didn't even come out until
1979. And there were only a handful of classical "digital" albums
before that.

Sorry, you lose.

Again.

With some yes with much no. Besides digital master tapes are not CDs. On top of
that, digital master tapes do not preclude the possibility of the LPs still
sounding better than any CD issue of a given title.

Right. Tell us the amount Arny. Then tell us how it relates to the Simply Vinyl

I like their Otis Redding "Dictionary of Soul".

I wish I knew more about Simply Vinyl masterings. I've heard high praise

Please let us know about the ELP record. Speakers Corner has also reissued that
