I just purchased a Jensen car radio. About an inch and a half from the end
of all the wires in the back (power, ground, speaker, antenna, etc.) there
is a band of insulation that has been cut out which exposes the bare wire.
What is the purpose of this? Bob

The wires have been stripped so you can crimp or solder them to a wire
harness or the wiring in the vehicle.

The wires come pre-stripped, as it seems.
