The problem with Stereophile, in a nutshell

Because you wind up with something that perfectly matches your exact needs, instead of a product that someone in marketing decided would meet most users' needs. Can you give an example? I'm struggling to think of a D.I.Y. electronics project that would impress a young person now. Well, all the time folks here are asking for things like a volume control that goes between their home recording console or their computer, and a pair of powered monitor speakers. This is a ten-minute job to toss together. Folks are asking for microphone attenuators, unusual cables. That sort of thing. None of these are exciting, they aren't sexy, but they are all things that can be tossed off in less than an hour and make your life in a home studio a lot easier. And for the most part, that's pretty much the case for all the DIY stuff these days... none of them are all that sexy, but they are just normal everyday things that people need. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. Pretty useful stuff to know how to do Scott, but hardly strong incentives for getting into DIY electronics. Yes, that's sort of the problem. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
