I've got another old paper.

This paper, from 1938, is by O.H.Schade of RCA. This must be the original
paper on the invention of the beam power tube. It's a huge 8 megabytes,
and tells you more than you could imagine.

As before, if you want it, post an email address.

This is a great old paper highly recommended, especially for fans of the
6L6, and is one of my favorites. Is yours the full, or the abridged
version? IIRC there were two versions of this paper, one published in
the Proceedings of the IRE, and the other published in the RCA Review, I
forget which was which, I think the IRE published the complete version
of the paper, while RCA which you would think would have published the
entire paper, published an abridged version, maybe the RCA Review ran up
against its page quota for that quarter.

Don't we all. Not everyone is free to admit it though. The
paper is definitely worth a read (thanks Rodger!).

Most important to your project is a grasp of loadlines, and
how they relate to such parameters as distortion, headroom
and bandwidth. The precise position of each loadline should
be fully justified. If any depart from authentic best
practice, they should be sonically legitimised, which would
be a great achievement worth sharing.

Pertinent to the paper: do you have any objection to
feedback as a matter of principle?

Here, for comparison, is something illustrating feedback to
cathode with several screen connections. Some similar, eh?

http://www.ivesonaudio.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/modal.htm

cheers, Ian

Thanks Mr. Ian. As for your question, I havent the slightest clue(if it was
directed at me indeed). I dont know anything about the technical whatfors,
but know quite well what sounds I like, and a lot about music theory as ive
been performing for a very long time..but I am trying to read everything I
possibly can about tubes and whatnot.

I didnt get the paper he mentioned, though I posted the email damnit.

And yet, despite the "coding" in the body of the message, you have left your
actual email perfectly visible in the headers, i.e. in the very set-up of your
account, or profile, in this instance. So your 'anti-spam' measures are zero!!

Oh well ... you can improve it. Another technology to understand ... ;=})

And, if the original poster happens to read this, this one might be nice;- I'd
reply with a better email address for greater volumes, & hope to post some.

Hey, you're welcome!

But remember ... who first wrote this ? ...

"No man is your friend. No man is your enemy."

Or this? two separate questions

"May all beings be happy!"

Actually the phrase, "May all beings be happy" is part of a buddhist practice
called lovingkindness. which is itself part of a practice called vipassana or
insight meditation.

Yeah, I knew it was something pertaining to the Buddhists, but as I havent
been interested in the practice for many years( I was on a Kerouac/Gary
Snyder/Neal Cassidy/Ginsberg/Burroughs/Baraka kick from age 15 or so till
about 27, and became interested through their references, especially Gary
Snyder(Japhy Ryder)), ive lost what little I did know about it. I still
read the Tao Te Ching, and the Blue Cliff Record from time to time.
