I have a 1996 vintage Melos SHA-Gold preamp. It has developed two
problems: balance control no longer works (just hear a whirring sound)
and the light for the balance meter is out. Otherwise, the unit is
fine and still sounds great.

Anyone had similar problems, and have suggestions for repairs?
