Default Port firing for Box??

I hope some people can give me some input on this choice. I am going to be
building a new enclosure for my JL 12W7s and I was wondering if it would
make a difference if I had the slot ports firing down or to the sides of the
vehicle? The ports will have at least 5in clearance and the vehicle is a
nissan pathfinder. Please let me know what you guys think.

It doesn't matter where the ports are unless the box goes into a car trunk.
Make sure you glue and screw the mdf when assembling. P.
