Default David Hafler - RIP

David's name hasn't been front and center lately, but my very first
dedicated preamp -- too many years ago -- was a Hafler kit. It wasn't all
that wonderful, but good enough to foster a hobby that's lasted most of my
life.

I also built a Hafler preamp and FM tuner using a dial scale. I
believe it had tuning LEDs like the previous KLH and Advent designs,
but I can't really recall now for sure. Nice, clean unit that was
affordable enough for a college kid at the time. He definately raised
a few eybrows and perked more than a few ears in his time.

Ref: David Hafler..memories..kits..etc.

I also went through the kit building episode
with Mr. Hafler's kits...both the pre-amp and
the basic amplifier. I still have them, I think
the basic amp quit due to a "cold solder joint"
issue. I was not very good at soldering at the
time.

As time goes along, we tend to lose those
that were so much of a factor during our time.
I never quite get over this happening.

The fading away of publications like "Audio"
and "High Fidelity"..and all the writers
associated with them leave a kind of recurring
sadness somewhere down inside. Such is life!

Leonard...
