Default MTV's Pimp my ride

Looks like Directed is finally getting some recognition. They use a lot
of Directed equipment in this show which is basically a half-hour long
reverse Monster Garage (turning a monster into a nice vehicle).

How is it reverse of Monster Garage? Did you see the last one where they
chopped and sectioned that '55 (it was a piece of **** to begin with)
(or '56, not sure) Chevy into a full customized car. You can't tell me
that was not a nice ride.... Directed isnt that fabulous...whats the big
deal. MA Audio and Alpine have both been on Monster Garage. Audiobahn
too...*yawn*.... As well as the other numerous television shows and
music videos that feature product placement. Most likely the companies
pay to have their gear featured on the show. Its all about marketing.
BUT, it is nice to see a larger exposure of the in-car entertainment
culture through various media.

Last couple episodes (1992 Honda 4-door & 198? Olds Cutlass) used Clarion,
not Directed Audio...

Because Monster Garage typically starts with a nice ride and rips it to
hell and may or may not end up with something drivable, and certainly
not a daily driver apart from the Mercedes SUV for the wheelchair and
the tailgater Escalade. Pimp my ride starts with a horrendous excuse for
a vehicle, then makes it a nice daily driver ride.

I did not see that one no. Sounds like a fun one to watch though.

Directed isn't "fabulous" but its rock-solid equipment. It is also the
first time I've seen it displayed anywhere public and not in a
competitor car. Kind of more of a closet-brand with a small niche in the
marketplace. Brands like MA Audio and Audiobahn whore themselves out to
advertising and pretty much anyone who will look. Alpine is a smaller
degree of whoring, but is wide known because of their quality and mass
producing in other areas as well. Directed is also of note because of
our own JD. Kind of gives the company a more "personal" feel in my opinion.

As well as the other numerous television shows and
music videos that feature product placement. Most likely the companies

Obviously.

You weren't paying much attention, Clarion HU and changers plus some A/V
switching parts etc. have been in virtually all the cars featured in the
show from the beginning. Our stuff has been used a lot for
amps/subs/speakers, and particularly video plus security here and there.

They've had:

Hi-Jet, Clarion source gear plus Directed amps, subs, speakers, video
monitors
Cadillac, same plus Viper Responder alarm/remote start. Didn't show very
much of the amps/subs/speakers though. I think the subs show up in a
trunk shot or two if you looked past the motorized shoe box.
Cutlass, Orion amps/subs/speakers - did you not see the three Orion
P-series subs mounted in the basketball court style trunk? the rest
wasn't visible in the aired episode. Also had Directed Video monitors, I
forget the HU stuff but I think was Clarion again
Civic, Directed Video, Bazooka amps/NOS tube subwoofers, missed the HU
detail but I think you're right that it was Clarion
Mirage, Directed Video, the HU was wired to an 8-track player recorder,
but I don't recall the HU brand, and don't remember seeing any
amp/sub/speaker details although I think we did send product for this
one also.

We're getting plenty of good exposure as are some of the other equipment
suppliers, and I wouldn't assume any of that was the result of paid
placements. What I think is the coolest part is the exposure our
industry is getting for the whole "take a car and transform it into
something more than basic transportation" plus watching the way WCC
attacks the projects. It's fun, and it's good for car audio &
electronics... you gotta love it.

Saw The Show "PIMP MY RIDE" for the first time, and just shows what
you can do if you have MTV'S MONEY And give it to a great custom shop
on the west coast for publicity and ratings. They gut the entire Junk
car and rebuild it.
Hell give me $50,000.00 And I could do that too.
The rims alone are $200.00/each
The show should be called Re-do my entire car from scratch...
