Default Protools learning

I just purchased an Mbox and got Protools LE. What recommendations are there
for books or online tutorials.... I've done lots of editing of minidisc
recordings on PC using Adobe Audition (Cool Edit) and have used both Mac and
PC with audacity, but am completely new to ProTools.

I've seen one website that has tutorials available, but it's based on
Protools version 5.1 -- us this much different than the current edition as
far as learning through this type of thing....

Same thing for books? What's the best books?

Thanks for any suggestions.

There's a lot of pretty good books on ProTools 6 out there, and very few bad
ones.

One you might start out with is:

PRO TOOLS ALL-IN-ONE DESKTOP REFERENCE FOR DUMMIES
by Jeff Strong
For Dummies Books
ISBN # 0764557149

and another good one is

PRO TOOLS 6 FOR MACINTOSH AND WINDOWS (VISUAL QUICKSTART GUIDE)
by Steven Roback
Peachpit Press
ISBN #0321213157

I've read both, and they're pretty decent.

Also, be sure to check out the excellent resources on the Digidesign User
Conference:

http://duc.digidesign.com/

There's a lot of terrific users there, many of whom are bound to have the
same questions that you do.

Finally, for other good reference books on audio recording in general, check
out Music Books Plus:

http://www.musicbooksplus.com/homerec.htm

They have an excellent selection of very informative books and publications.
Lotta good stuff for beginning recordists to learn from.

Go to digidesign.com and purchase the ProTools 6.2 manual.

It's amazing that they don't include it with their LE systems because it
just makes you a better/happier user, and wading through pdf files is so
incomparable to having a manual right next to you at all times, that
comparing the two is just silly.

BTW, digidesign will stick you with upwards of $40 for the manual and
shipping, etc, but I really believe it's worth it. That's my 2 cents.
