Default Choice for navigation system?

Anyone have experience with both Alpine and Pioneer navigation
systems? I've narrowed my choices down to two:

1) An Alpine IVA-D900 for the monitor and DVD/CD player, and the
Alpine N852A DVD-based navigation unit.

-or-

2) The Pioneer NAV-SYS910DVD package, that contains the AVH-6500 DVD
player/monitor and the AVIC-80 DVD-based nav unit.

The Alpine combo goes for just under $3000, and the Pioneer system is
about $1850. Other than the Alpine having a slightly bigger screen
(7" vs. 6.5"), I can't find any big differences between the two
choices.

Anyone have experience with both units?

Thanks,
Scott Gardner

I've had great success with my Rand McNally navigation system,
especially since I got the compass and magnifying glass upgrade.

Or even better, my own personal AWACS telling me where to go!

Ah, the AWACS guys are wusses. In the E-2C "Hawkeye", we do almost
the same mission with a crew of five instead of two dozen. It's kind
of nice that I don't have to have a signed request and permission from
three people to change a radio frequency in flight.

I work with what I have available. You guys have Hawkeye's, we get AWACS.
You know how it is. God forbid all the branches get the same airframes.
Now we've got new elephant butt ass ugly BDUs that nobody else has to suffer
with and on top of all of that we might have to wear the Marine's BDU cap!
WTF, I ain't a Marine!

Whew, I don't know where that came from!

now, if they could just have stuck some Arby's roast beef sammiches or
an In N' Out burger or two in Osama and Saddam's headpieces before they
went to earth, we'd have no problem locating them...

JD
who knew the Lizard would turn out to be any kind of secret weapon?
