If is has audible surface noise, it is not "better" than CD, period,
end of discussion. That is not questionable. Surface noise is WRONG,
period. One can even consider an LP as "superior" only if it has no
truly obvious faults.

I am sorry, but to some of us there are much worse things than a little
surface noise when it comes to listening to music. Your preferences are
your preferences. That is all. "Better" is ultimately a subjective issue;
"better" has to be against a standard, and in audio reproduction that
standard has to do with music, not with an absolute standard of no clicks or
pops.
