Default Tuner alignment and upgrades??

Has anyone had good results from having an older tuner aligned and upgraded
for better audio quality? Who did you use to do the work? What was the
cost?

Thanks.

Is this a run-of-the-mill tuner or something special?

Modifying a tuner is difficult and expensive because of the time
involved. Alignment, if your unit needs it, will improve things, but it
won't suddenly turn a poorly designed tuner into a steller performer.

I've seen units that could be improved by fussing with the IF filters.
Some units use multiple ceramic filters and, while still within
specifications, unfortunate manufacturing tolerances can degrade
performance a bit. By purchasing a quantity of filters, I can sometimes
pick through the batch and find a set with better matching -- and
sometimes I can't -- it's the luck of the draw.
