testing some vintage iron (with results)
I have two of these PP transformers from an old Magnavox hifi which were
used with a quad of 6V6s and decided to put them on the LCZ meter at work and see how they behaved. First I figured out the turns ratio by putting 10.8vac across the primary and reading .549 and .414 on the two secondary taps. Dividing those you get 19.67 and 26.08. Square those numbers and multiply by 8 and you get 3.095k and 5.441k. Look good so far? All the testing was done with an HP 4192A impedance analyzer and the secondary of the transformer shorted. I started at 500Hz and went in 500Hz steps all the way to 20Khz while watching the impedance and phase. Here is a chart from excel: http://68.162.128.102:808/~tesla/tra...ting/chart.htm Now am I going about testing this correctly? Questions, comments? Adam |
