ribbon replacement material
hi,
i have been experimenting with ribbon mic designs for about 9 months now and i have a 'small amount' of 5u (micron) material (99.1% AL). they are 3 1/2" x 1/2". you can cut them in half to make two ribbons. since they are not sized, you have to do your own corrugations which is pretty simple to do, but cutting is a delicate process! as is putting them into their proper place. most of the chinese mic's use 6 micron (u) foil and they sound pretty darn good when the ribbon is set correctly (which is rare!) this material is thinner so you should get a better response as long as you position it correctly. if interested in acquiring some of this material just let me know. i not have a large amount of it. perhaps 12 -14 strips. |
