Default Akai and Reason

Call me old fashioned but I am still a big fan of hardware
samplers(akai s and z series), however I have a lot of people I work
with who come to me with Reason files. Reason refills and sample
sounds are getting quite good and ReLoad converts Akai to Reason but
are any of you aware of an app I can buy that allows Reason files to
be converted to Akai format? I know of programs like Chicken Systems
and REload that do every other kind of conversion except from Reason
files to anything else AND since Reason does not send MIDI data I
cannot use my sampler....which may be what they want. hmmmm

there's a program called CDXtract that will convert many formats back
and forth. among these are Akai S5/6k and Reason NN-XT formats. i've
used this program on Mac, but i'm not sure that it's Mac only and you
didn't specify a platform.

I think it's for XP also

anyway, check it out at:

www.cdxtract.com

for the record, i'm still a fan of hardware boxes and still use them,
so i thought Reason looked like a really "cute" little toy for a long
time. however, i started playing around with it several months ago and
i'm astounded by it's power and flexibility...and how CPU efficient it
is.

i find it a wonderful companion to the other gear in my studio and if
i found myself away on the road or out of town, it would be enough to
keep me busy and feeling creatively productive if i had it on a
laptop.
