Need Tubes Tested New York City
Hello R.A.T experts.
I have found a Dynaco ST70 on the street, and have cleaned the rust off and plugged it in. It works, but I'd like to take the next step and have the tubes tested. I can't seem to find a shop in NYC (preferably downtown Manhattan) that will do this for me. I've got one repair shop that will only do it as a part of a repair, with a $125 minimum for estimate! Can anyone recommend a good shop, or just an expert who may be willing to test my tubes for a little money or beer? Please respond via email as well, as my news feed has been dodgy. Thanks! |

Check the local guitar shops.. Most of them would have a tester I would
think. "Matt Feifarek" wrote in message ... Hello R.A.T experts. I have found a Dynaco ST70 on the street, and have cleaned the rust off and plugged it in. I'll test them on a laboratory calibrated TV-7D/U (one of the finest testers
ever made) for free, but you will have to mail them to me and pay postage both ways (it's cheap because they are so light weight). and you will have to put me up when I visit NYC someday as payment! cheers! wild bill world's largest seller of lab calibrated TV-7 series tube testers lab calibration by Dan Nelson - the world authority on the TV-7 series "Matt Feifarek" wrote in message ... OK... I figure if you're lucky enough to FIND a ST70 on the street (!),
you should make up for your incredible good fortune by getting on eBay and buying half decent tester. If you're going to be "into" tubes, you'll need one in the end anyrate. Nothin' too hi-end required, just one to find the bad tubes and give you a rough idea how "tired" they are. If the ST70 works, and was so far free, you might just want to spring for a complete new set of tubes. A lot of people will tell you vintage tubes are best (especially small signal tubes), but the new power tubes are also excellent. "Matt Feifarek" wrote in message ... Hello R.A.T experts. At any given time there are around 220 tube testers for sale on ebay, and 200 or so are basically just toys (emissions testers) - A Hickok 533 or TV-7A/U is about the lowest cost of the real tube testers, if he is not ready to spend at least $200 for a mutual conductance tester (and another $100+ for a proper calibration) then he is just ****ing in the wind with anything less. He might as well stick with an $8 ohm meter from Home Depot. wild bill knoxville world's largest seller of TV-7 series tube testers |
