Smile Pioneer DEHP6000 not working

My Pioneer cd radio in car is not working. When I push the power on button on the face off unit, the face off unit does not light and there is no sound. I have checked that power is getting to the unit, and have detected voltage and current on the connectors (to which the face off part mates). Any suggestions what I can try next. I removed the plastic switch and am directly pressing on the power on switch of the circuit board of the face plate directly so know that the plastic switch is not the issue. Would appreciate suggestions as to what to do next or where I could get a service manual /schematic for this great stereo which I don't want to throw away.
It may be that my face off part got damaged when closing the glove box but cannot see any obvious breakages.

Have you pulled the deck out and checked the wires? the ACC wire may
have come loose. This would mean the deck is still getting power but
won't turn on. YOu can test this by connecting the acc wire to any 12v
power source.

Interestingly when you turn on the ignition you can hear movement in the cd mechanism and I was able to load a cd even though the unit face was not lighting up

Some of those old Pioneer decks (DEH-P7200, P5200 etc) will play without the
faceplate on. when you take the face off, there is a little black push
button. try holding that in and putting a CD in. you will not be able to
change tracks or volume, but it will play the cd or Radio. That will let you
know if the mail unit works.

Thanks for the reply. I checked my unit and there is no black button on it behind the face plate. The only button is the one which causes the face to move from a closed vertical position to the horizontal open position.
