Recessed speaker wall plates?
I'm looking for some speaker wall plates with recessed jacks/binding
posts, for a high traffic area (rec room). Sort of like a clock outlet, but with speaker jacks instead of a plug socket. I've tried places like Parts Express and Niles, but have not had any luck. Ideally, the posts would be at the bottom (or top) of the recess rather than the back - I think that would give me enough room to use banana plugs and still have the wire curve to be more or less flush with the wall by the time it comes out of the recess. My worry with posts mounted on the back of the recess is that the joint between the wire and plug would be above the wall surface, the minimum curve for the wire would create a loop even further out into the room, and it would all be rather vulnerable. Does anyone know if a recessed plate like this exists? As an alternative, I've though about using speaker plates (not sure of the proper name - the recessed dish on the back of most reasonable quality speakers where they have their binding posts), but would prefer something that'll look nice on a white wall (i.e. decora-sized and shaped would be nice). Thanks, Doug. |
