Roadside Tube Harvest
....I drove by it ar first...
I thought it seemed like an old, disused hi-fi console. A u-turn, a 2nd inspection confirmed what a little voice told me. "silvery getter flashing reflecting the midday sun." It was a Lowrey organ, foot pedals rusted and sickeningly displaced, twisted to the side. Main chassis rusted and pitted. I located the output tubes, the plates told me "7591a." Sure enough they are "Lowrey" branded 7591a's. Only a pair though. 1 big bottle 5U4GB, some "Lowrey" branded 12AX7's, some 6FA7's, sme 6X8s, some "Lowrey" branded 6FH8's. Lots of the last 3 types, upper octave oscillators and multivibrator type dividers... I'll test the 7591a's and the 12AX7s on my TV7D/U tester and see what I have. A. |
