Upcoming ³Songwriting, Producing, & Engineering² Recording Seminar
Celebration Sound is pleased to announce our sixth in a series of one
day Recording Seminars. On Saturday afternoon March 26th from noon to five pm, we will be presenting ³Songwriting, Producing, & Engineering.² Celebration Recording Seminars, hosted by Celebration owner David Correia, are a unique opportunity to spend an afternoon with successful professionals in a pro studio in a small group. Celebration Sound, now in its 25th year, is located 15 minutes east of Providence, RI in the waterfront town of Warren, RI. Our two very special guests are songwriter Elliot Willensky, and the one and only Fletcher of Mercenary Audio. Elliot has written hits for Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson & many others. (To see more of Elliot's credits, visit www.CelebrationSound.com.) Fletcher is well known throughout the pro audio world for his wide range of knowledge and wit, and for his company, Mercenary Audio. Fletcher also runs a great online forum at www.recforums.prosoundweb.com. The purpose of the seminar is to give you the chance to ask successful professionals all your questions, as well as hear everyone else¹s. Participants will also get to watch and listen to Elliot, Fletcher and David as they demonstrate their craft in our control room. The day¹s schedule is simple. We¹ll spend the first half of the seminar in the main recording room answering any questions you see fit to ask. After a short break, we¹ll get back together in the control room, where we will play CD¹s and use studio gear to demonstrate what we¹ve talked about. Our first five Recording Seminars were very well received by those attending. We¹re pretty sure this one will be special as well. The focus of this seminar - songwriting and producing - breaks new ground. If you are a songwriter, where else will you find an opportunity to ask questions to a successful hit songwriter like Elliot? And you can ask about anything, from tips to help with your songwriting to questions about copywriting and licensing your songs - you name it. We¹ll also be talking about Producing. One of the highlights of the day will be listening to Elliot and Fletcher in the control room playing the beginning, middle, and final versions of a song each has produced. They¹ll be sharing their explanations of what they did and why to get the song to its final shape. We will also be talking about the vital engineering decisions that come into play. We¹ll be talking about microphones, great compressors and eqs, mixing, etc. If this is something you are interested in, we¹d suggest you contact us right away. Spending a Saturday afternoon in the studio with Fletcher is almost worth the price of admission by itself. Fletcher may know more about vintage and current state of the art gear than just about anyone. And Elliot¹s invaluable insight into the professional world of songwriting is a rare and special opportunity. The Seminar cost is $100. A $50 deposit holds your space, with the $50 balance due the day of the Seminar. We accept cash and all the major credit cards. If you¹d like to attend and you¹re not from New England, Providence is easily accessible via Amtrak or many airlines. The studio is a 15 minute ride from downtown Providence on a well traveled bus line. Call or email us for any traveling or nearby lodging information. You can contact us at 401-247-0218 or email .
