Hi,

i have got a nice tube amp for my guitar but it has got nothing to
connect earphones and silence the speaker.

Is it possible to connect earphones to the amp?
Are there any resources on the net that explain how to do it?
Any good books to get started with tube amps?

find just any schmtc of power amp in region of 30-100W and look for that
part of schmtc.
then you'll see.

How many watts does your amp put out? Power tubes will quickly die
without a load, butt... if under 5 w, you can sub in a resistor to
mute the speaker. Then you put in a voltage divider to feed the
ear-buds. Ask somebody that hasn,t blown their drums what R's to use.

** Tube guitar amps never do - only SS ones sometimes have that.

For Stereo H-Fi amps,I have have usually just put a couple 10W wire
wound 8ohm resistors inplace of the speakers,for a load,and connected
the headphones in paralell with those.
Be careful with the volume,even my 1W per channel "headphone" amp will
make my ears bleed at a high volume. You could put a (variable)
resistor in series with the headphones to bring the volume down to
normal,if it's too loud.
Wiring up a headphone jack that disconnects the speaker,and connects
the load resistor shouldn't be too difficult.

i will need a 50W 8 Ohm resistor instead of the speaker. (15W Blues
Junior)

Hey Phil, test your earbud 'line out' on a small speaker first, and
never go straight parallel to the load resistor, this is screamin' axe
solo's we're talkin here, i think, not a quiet eve in the den w/ the
stereo.
BTW, the little headphones have a higher impedance, so you may need to
experiment a bit. Good luck.
