Default AC-3 Decoder Only?

Hi,

I jumped onto the Dolby Digital bandwagon a little too early I spent a few
thousand dollars on a Yamaha receiver which is "Dolby Digital Ready" and
spent about $700 on a DVD player which has an inbuilt AC-3 decoder.
Works great except now I have a problem.
I now have an XBox and the Dolby Digital output is SPDIF/optical :-(

I do not need another receiver as I am very happy with the quality of mine
and dont want to spend that much money on XBox surround sound when I still
have AC-3 DVD.

Does anyone know of a device that is just an AC-3 decoder and not a full
receiver?

If not it looks like I will have to rip open the DVD player and trace out
the decoding circuitry.

Thanks in advance,

Yes, there are several digital surround decoders that can be used in
conjunction with the 6 channel inputs on your receiver. The most common
ones are from Technics and Sony, but Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, Marantz and
several others are also around.

Your best bet for finding one would be on eBay.

Probably not much help, but here's one being sold in conjunction with a
Yamaha receiver:
