I tried it in a 5F2-A Princeton clone I scratch built, I was pretty underwhelmed. RCA and Sylvania 6V6 tubes sound much better in my amp than the Bendix. The 5992 tube sounded kinda dry and flat, not a lot of sparkle. HTH, Steve |

You're kidding right? The 6L6GT is the single most common power tube
used in American tube amps w/ power rating above 30 watts! However, there are various "flavors" of this tube. The GT suffix denotes a glass tube envelope - those w/o will probably be of the metal can type. The "old Fender" type were made by a different manufacturer and are a.k.a. KT66 / 5881. I wouldn't pay much more than $20 ea. unless they are matched sets. best regards, ww *timber* wrote: Has anyone had the chance to try these tubes in audio/guitar amps ? Don't blame the victim. The 6V6 tube was very popular w/ Fender in the
below 30 watt guitar amp category. However, the tube will not compensate for poor surrounding circuits, pickups, speakers, etc. I would suggest trying them in amps of known quality; i.e. Fender Princeton or Delux. I've used both of these in the past and was quite pleased with the tone. best regards, ww hai-chuan, tung wrote: Has anyone had the chance to try these tubes in audio/guitar amps ? You mean 6L6GC? The only reference to 6L6GT I've seen is some
guy on ebay selling "6L6GT" tubes. These look like Russian 6P3C tubes. I've never seen an American or European data sheet with the designator "6L6GT" However, there are various "flavors" of this tube. The GT suffix denotes a glass tube envelope - those w/o will probably be of the metal can type. AFAIK, the GT suffix was only used on smaller power octal tubes like the 6V6GT. Glass 6L6-type tubes came in 6L6G, 6L6GA, and 6L6GB designations in addition to the 6L6GC. The 6L6 with no suffix was metal as you have stated. The "old Fender" type were made by a different manufacturer and are a.k.a. KT66 / 5881. I wouldn't pay much more than $20 ea. unless they are matched sets. KT-66 tubes, real 5881 tubes and 6L6GC tubes all have different ratings. They all sound different from each other as well. Steve |
