AKG C12 - Recommend Good, Less Expensive Mic

You could consider an older 414/EB, if you could be sure that it had the original C12-style capsule in it. They aren't cheap, but they are cheaper than the C12. Unfortunately a lot of them have been updated with the more modern capsule, so you will want to buy from someone who knows what he is selling and that you can trust. The 414B/ULS has a more modern capsule design, but it has the top end pretty much the same even if the upper midrange is different.
