"stones" and other such tweeks, and did so to the tune of 1,000,000 US
dollars as an incentive. Mr. Atkinson responded here to the original
story and recently his mag has published what seems his public response to
the story via one of the opinion pieces in the nov. issue. Randi responds
to the author of that piece and mentions that a response directly to Mr.
Atkinson is forthcoming. It should be said that Randi doesn't read this
group but he is aware there is some discussion of the topic occuring on
the internet among audio folk.

Frankly, I don't think any of this discussion reflects favorably on
the principals in the argument. Dudley's attack was childish and
Randi's riposte wasn't much better.

My god, based on those excerpts , Dudley's 'arguments' in that column were
*pathetic*. Which is too bad, because
usually seems to drink slightly less of the high-end Kool Aid than others
at Stereophile. Shame on him.

While this may possibly be off-topic, if this is an attempted Jonestown
reference, be aware the Kool Aid FAQ points out that the drink of choice
was in fact Flavor Aid.

Yes, Kool Aid, like Kleenex for facial tissue, has become the generic term for
"unsweetened soft drink mix." When I was a kid we called it 'nectar' after the
Co-Op brand product which was called Nectar.

I use a lot of this stuff because grape soda can no longer be found. The
closest to it is Diet-Rite White Grape which is good but tastes more like Creme
Soda than grape pop.

As far as brands go Wyler's, Kool-Aid and and any of the brands in grape flavor
seem to work equally well although I have not done a straight-up taste test.
So, for my practical purposes "all unsweetened grape flavored soft drink mix"
tastes the same.
