Default 99' Mazda 626 CD Player Putting Marks on Discs

The unit is factory issue. I've cleaned the laser lens multiple times. For some
reason, I've found that it always puts a lengthy, single mark/line (not a
scratch) on all my discs. The lines goes completely across the surface. The
mark/line can be largely wiped away, but a faint outline always remains. Does
anyone have an idea as to what the problem could be? Also, is there any way to
fix a loose button? It's the flat type you push up/down to change tracks (not a
knob). Thanks for your help.
