Default ?? Converting cassettes to cd's, can I ??????

Is there such technology yet where I can copy my cassette tapes on cd's? I
have a lot of cassettes that I cannot find on cd's now, mostly due to the
fact that these artists don't record no more or their old albums are not as
popular as the newer ones. By the way, I like Tejano music. Thanks for any
help/ideas..

Easiest thing to do is download the MP3 version of your favourite songs from
the net with a file sharing utility like Kazaa or iMesh. Then burn them
onto a CD. If you can't find them online then you will have to connect your
tape player to your computer's sound card input and record them on your
computer. Then you can burn them onto a CD.

How do I plug my tape player to my pc sound card? The only input for sound
on the back of my pc is the size of a typical earphone plug size. Its got
only one, along with one for a mic, and the output for the speakers I
currently have right now. So is this input the one to plug them to? Is there
adaptors that convert RCA cables to on of these plugs?

Yes, and yes. This is the input you have to connect to the output of your
tape player. Any home audio retailer (Radio Shack) will have the adapter you
need. Just tell them what you want to do and they will know exactly what you
need. This is a common question for them. I used Radio Shack P/N 42-2483
which is a right angled plug on the computer end but you may opt for the
straight one instead (P/N 42-2551).
The only other thing you may need is a decent audio recording application
for your PC. Windows comes with Sound Recorder but I never tried to use it.
I used the Wave Studio program that came with my Sound Blaster Card with
excellent results. It will allow you to cut up the recording into separate
songs after and then do some cool editing.
