Default Dumb Question?

My current system currently is comprised of a Kenwood Excelon Deck, a Polk
Audio component system, an Eclipse sub, and a 5-channel DEI amp. Because I
run all my speakers using the DEI, I am curious to know whether or not my
deck is "doing any work" as far as generating power?

Does an amplified deck still output power if there are no speakers attached
to the outputs?

Much thanks with any assistance...

The short answer is no. As far as the amplifier circuits are
concerned, they are staring at an open circuit and should not be
consuming power.

There are certainly losses associated with running an amplification
stage without any load -- but nothing you should be concerned about.
More importantly be sure that each of the leads are taped up so that
they cannot touch themselves or the chassis (very important).
