Default 2 channel sound

Hi,
Just was wondering if any here would know a great sounding surround
processor pre amp that would be equally as good in delivering 2
channel sound. Thinking of a Lexicon, Proceed or simular, thanks,
Gary

The Bryston SP1.7 has flawless surround performance and a true stereo
by-pass that eliminates the digital circuitry by connecting the analog
source selected to it's top quality stereo preamplifier section. In
this by-pass mode, the analog circuitry is the same as in the
excellent BP25 preamp (which I use at home). The only difference is
the power supply is housed in the SP1.7 as opposed to being an
external unit in the BP25.
That is a great full-function surround processor, but there is another
alternative if you want something that is super affordable and still
great sounding. The Audio Refinement Pre-5 is a true stereo preamp as
it is analog only and has no digital processing. It has a six channel
volume control and connections for a six channel input. Therefore you
would need a DVD player that has a Dolby Digital processor and six
channel (5.1) analog output for surround use. You could also connect a
DVD-A or other six channel audio output to it if you wanted to use it
just for music. We have some happy customers using this piece after
having been frustrated with the complication of some surround
receivers menus. The bonus is that they also get better sound!
There are other components that offer very good performance, but these
two really are special as they offer true analog stereo performance
and a rather uncluttered interface.

I second the Bryston, it is a tremendous product. It would be interesting
to know what you plan to mate it with.
