Default Kenwood 8050 problem

I have a Kenwood 8050 from the late 70s. It has been working fine until
yesterday. I was playing a CD and when I went to turn the unit off, it was
off as in dead. All other components including speakers and CD player are
fine. I run the receiver through a surge protector but it will not power
on. I tried to the outlet directly and nothing. Any suggestions on where
to start troubleshooting (power supply, fuse, etc.) I really like the unit
and I want to try to fix it.
