Optical interconnect
Does anyone do a *real* optical system for long(ish) distances eg up to
100m? Not TOSLINK plastic cable. Dirk |

The cheapest is probably the Hosa gadget that allows you to run S-PDIF over a single 62.5 fibre. For more money you can get gadgets like the LightViper that allow you to run multiple channels over the same fibre. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

Plus, of course, there is no possibility whatsoever of earth loops screwing things up. -- Dirk http://www.onetribe.me.uk/ - The UK's only occult talk show Presented by Dirk Bruere and Marc Power on ResonanceFM |

If you're using unshielded Cat-5 and the devices use transformer isolation (as is required in the AES/EBU spec but not the newer IEC spec), then there is no possibility of ground loops anyway. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
