Question Sansui G-22000 - with powered speakers?

Wondering if anyone has or had any experience with this.

I hooked up my Sansui G22000 receiver with Infinity Composition Overture 3's. They are powered floor standing speakers. Now the protection mode is coming on at -24 on the volume level on the Sansui.

I put a pair of non powered Sansui speakers SPX-7000 and it went well past there with no protection kicking in. Not going any higher than that as the SPX7000 speakers can't handle the G-22000 beast.

I also have a HK reciever and a Sansui G7000 which both have no challenges with the O3's.

Any ideas on what is going on as I am convinced it is in the G-22000.
I can't find anything that would say powered speakers would be a challenge. Only that if you use 4 ohm speakers you can not run another set of speakers on top of that.

The Overtures are rated at 8 ohms and I had no other speakers connected either so no challenge there.

Scratching head.....
