Simple. Most magazines have a lead time of a few days, which means they knew
about the capture in advance. Obviously the US government waited until the
right time to tell us about it (I assume it's related to some important
political vote or presidential campaign). Naturally, the government lied to
us about the time of the capture. Nothing new.

Hey Egg, your typing makes you look nervous.

Whassamatta', something smell bad to you too ?

How come.... only one still photo of the 'shaven' Saddam?

How come.... with almost every helmet comes a camera, but there's
no real footage of anything that took place on the so-called raid?
Nothing but after the fact re-enactment of the lid coming off and
some shots of the hole.

How come.... one of the richest men in the world is *reportedly* found
in a hole in the ground with a small bag of money, relatively equivalent
to that of a handout?

This list could go on. I'm tired of being duped by Uncle Sam and
his corporate warlords & media cahoots. Sooner or later, the lame
public is gonna' wake up to the snow-jobs they are being handed.

Anybody feel "safer" now ? cough-cough

It was announced by almost every network that a Time photographer was with
the troops that captured him and that he was captured Satuday evening. A
very simple matter of uploading a digital photo. Maybe 16 hours is plenty of
time to get a cover revised, printed and to the newsstands these days.

A wide eyed intern burst into the editor's office waving an API print out,
causing the gruff editor to exclaim "What in blazes?!?!?" "Chief . . . ch .
.. chief . . . . .LOOK!" the intern stammered and showed him the API bulletin
about Saddam's capture. "Great Caesar's Ghost, outa my way Olsen!" he cried
pushing Olsen aside as he lunged into the outer office bellowing "STOP THE
PRESSES!!!!!" Clark, who was standing at the water cooler taking in all
the commotion smirked slightly, knowing that it was his tip that led the
army to Saddam's hiding spot. He thought to himself, "X-ray vision sure has
a lot of rewarding uses!" Just then Lois walked by, somewhat stiffly, as if
in some mild discomfort. She thought to herself "How could my breasts get so
sunburned, especially in the dead of winter?"

I now return myself to the Delirium Fix recording sessions . . . . . . . .

750,000 in one hundred dollar bills is no small bag. How did he even fit
all that cash in the hole?

Yes, I think it is like soda pop bottling plants. They have printing
facilities all over the place. They just send the magazine to all of
them in digital form and there you go.

That's only 7,500 bills, say 500 to a 1 " stack? that makes 15 1" stacks...
not a huge area.

That's 7500 bills. 75 stacks of 100 Benjamins. About half a duffle
bag. And who said it was in the hole? I heard a description of his
living quarters in the adjacent building. He only went into the hole
as the cavalry showed up. I don't think the two AK47s were in the hole
either. Just him and the handgun he didn't use.

I keep wondering whose "hole" is nicer .. Dick Cheney's or Saddam's ???
I wonder if Cheney's bunker has a stove?

750,000 that's a days pay for an army of 375,000 at the USA or Haliburton's
pay rate for the local labor/army... Just curious how does one build a
democracy when you establish a $2 per day pay rate.... seems more like they
are wanting to develop the ultimate area for sweat shops with even lower
wages than China..

One more point: The news magazines may not know exactly when a given
event is going to occur, but they often know that it will occur
eventually. The capture of Saddam is such an event.

As a result, they can have a great deal of material ready for
publication that can be easily updated with a few last minute facts and
printed for distribution. All that's left to do is to grab the cover photo.

And as EggHd mentions... print, dry, sort, pack, ship & mail, final delivery.

Tall order for a Saturday news break and services that are closed on Sunday.

Not to mention that part of the story is keeping the capture secret for 16
hours. If there are people printing packing and shipping, that's a lot of
loose lips.

I assumed you were refering to the noise that guy made about blast
craters and shadows and such in the lunar landing pictures. I read
that *AND* have the video 'documentary'. I thought it was worth
looking into. The people I have found that discredit him are more

During Christmas the PO is running 24/7. Also the newsweekly business is so
cutthroat that I would imagine that Time would have a built in contingency plan
for scoops like these.

You think that's something?

How did South Park get a brilliant Saddam-in-beard-themed episode on the
air by Wednesday when Saddam was just captured on Sunday?

I'm sure Trey Parker and Matt Stone must be Bush cronies.

Thanks all, heh, maybe I should give up on music/recording and take up
writing? ( at least for super hero fiction?? ) Although, as I think about
it, I bet if I had posted some of my music in a writers forum, they would be
more impressed with that then my writing abilities . . . . . .
