Default Otari MX55 1/4" recorder (follow up )

Forgive Me taking up valuable cybor space to elaborate about My
analog 3 Machine shootout coiMng around april 15th or Maybe 16th after
taxes Might be a better day. I aM going to Mix two songs froM a blues
project and two froM a Florida folk project. Not sure which three
Machines i will use. I have a TascaM BR20, AMpex 440b, Otari MX55 ,
MCI JH110b 1/4" and a Fostex E22 1/2". All Machines are 1/4" except
the Fostex E22 which is a 1/2". All Machines run at 15 ips except the
Otari and the Fostex will run 15 ips and 30 ips. I think I will run 1
or 1.5 Minute sections of the two songs selected.
This Otari MX-55 runs at 30 ips if you vari
speed it up. i ran a 1k tone and speed it up until its pitch was an
octive higher. Any thought for aking the test accurate ? GT

I hope I can post the files here? Maybe high rate MP3's would be ok?

This is a text only group, so you'll need to upload the files to
somewhere like dropbox (Not YouTube, as they do 'orrible things to the
sound), and post the URL for download here. I use a page on my website
to do this.

As to whether high rate mp3 files are good enough, it depends on why
you're posting them. For full critical listening, then .wav files are
best, if it's just to get the gist of the performance, then medium bit
rate .mp3s will suffice.

That's not a good way to get 30 ips on a machine not
designed for it. The equalization for 15 and 30 ips is
different, and that doesn't change when you just speed up
the capstan.

As for posting files - not here. You can upload them to file
storage web site and post the link to them here. If anyone's
really interested.
