car stereo problem
i have a car stereo that i took out from another car. it was running
fine and it would power up. im installing it in a new car,and i attached the 3 wires correctly, the ground, the 12v+ constant and the 12v+ switched. now it wont power up(i dont see the light on the front panel screen light up), BUT it will eject a cd and when i put a cd in there it will take it. can somebody help me with this problem. i know i touched the ground wire of the car to a small battery and i had to replace a fuse and that worked(before the eject wasnt working, and some of my lights,so i replaced one of the "15"fuse and it was working again). could it be i have to replace another fuse? thanks |

I guess this is a CD changer, right
It sounds like your not getting power to the 12v+ switched wire (red?). it could be a blown fuse, bad connection or maybe with all the fuses blowing you may have damaged something inside the changer. If you have a test meter, test for 12 volts right at the changer plug to make sure your getting both 12 volt sources (constant and switched) wrote in message oups.com... i have a car stereo that i took out from another car. it was running fine and it would power up. im installing it in a new car,and i attached the 3 wires correctly, the ground, the 12v+ constant and the 12v+ switched. now it wont power up(i dont see the light on the front panel screen light up), BUT it will eject a cd and when i put a cd in there it will take it. can somebody help me with this problem. i know i touched the ground wire of the car to a small battery and i had to replace a fuse and that worked(before the eject wasnt working, and some of my lights,so i replaced one of the "15"fuse and it was working again). could it be i have to replace another fuse? thanks |
