Not sure if this has been discussed here before, but has everyone seen
the new issue of Pro Sound News with the article on the new jazz
complex opening at Lincoln Center? The facility includes three jazz
performance spaces, each tied back to an extensive complex of
recording facilities. The recording studios are intended to be used
almost exclusively for recording the performances on the three new
stages, so they shouldn't have too big of an impact on local studios.
They are now seeking proposals for someone to come in and equip/wire
and operate the recording studios (the spaces have been designed and
constructed and are ready for equipment installation.)

Whoever gets the gig to spec and purchase the gear for this complex is
going to have a lot of fun. On the other hand, he'll have to put up
with a lot of second guessing from folks around here who just know
that they could do a better job spending the million dollar gear
budget.

Is this being built in the space currently occupied by the AFI theatre?
That's been a political football for years.

The existing AFI hall looks like it would sound terrible, with cement
walls and sheeting, but it actually sounds pretty good.
