Advice on a new system
I'm new to everything car audio, so I'd like to get some feedback on what I'm trying to do here. I have a '97 Ford Escort (w/o premium sound, I believe; how do you tell?), which means I have an integrated console with the stock radio and the climate controls. 4 speakers. I'm looking for two features in a new head unit: Sirius satellite radio compatibility and AUX-in (for my MP3 player). After much perusing of crutchfield.com, I settled upon the following items: Clarion ProAudio DXZ445 head unit (Item #020DXZ445) SIRIUS SIR-CL1 Satellite Radio Tuner (Item #020SIRCL1) Terk SIR-Mini SIRIUS antenna (Item #209SIRMINI) Speakers will come later. I'd also have to get a replacement center console (Item #120995720). The linked one will work, but is very ugly. Are there alternatives? So is this a good setup? I have an MP3 player with surround-sound output through two small headphone jacks, but I understand I'll only be able to use one and get stereo. I'd be getting a male-male converter thing to go from the Clarion's RCA jacks to the player's headphone jack. Also, there's a Clarion dealer in town, so I'd be getting them to do it all for me. Is that going to make it much more expensive? Advice, please? Thanks a lot for your help. -- joeljkp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ joeljkp's Profile: http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/me...p?userid=30030 View this thread: http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/sh...d.php?t=198050 CarAudioForum.com - Usenet Gateway w/over one million posts online! |
