Speaker Wire for car amp ??
I am installing a 70w per channel amp in my upgrades to my car sound. I am
not a nut, I just like a good car stereo.... What would a quality car stereo shop use for speaker wire ? I am thinking of 16 gauge. Is that sufficient for this purpose (70w per channel). I don't want to start a war here about Monster Cable and stuff like that, I just want practical advice on what makes sense for the proper gauge wire for this installation. Thank you ! James |

James If your speakers are 8 ohm units, then we are talking around 3 amps per channel average RMS current....16 guage wire will be more than adequate for handling that. |

Most car speakers are 4 ohms. |

Most car speakers are 4 ohms. 16 gauge wire should still be adequate. See the charts and other info at: http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/WireCapacityChart.htm |
