NAD 2200 Speaker Relays
I have a pair of these amps that need relays. I burnished the
contacts about 10 yrs ago, but they've oxidized since. NAD no longer stocks them. Anybody know of a source ? Thanks Pancake |

Thanks Pancake Good morning, Those relays are as scarce as hens teeth. What I've been doing with good results is substituting a much more common relay, but it does require some work. I've been using an Omron G2R-24-DC24, which is available from Digikey (www.digikey.com) as part number Z748-ND, or Mouser (www.mouser.com) as part number 653-G2R-24-DC24. These are sealed relays and are not likely to fail again. I mount the relay upside down to the circuit board with a strong double sided tape. If you are careful, you can do this in a way that you can run wires down to the PC board to make the 4 connections that you need to make. For the relay power, you can use fairly thin (22 gage) wire. For the Amp in and speaker out, I use 14 or 16 gage buss wire. PARALLEL the 2 sections of the relay!! The layout of the board is different for each channel, so you'll have to be careful to figure out which side of the relay the wires have to come off of. I suggest trial fitting several times before mounting the relay, as I like to have the wires short as possible, both for the signal path, and to have the wires hold the relay in position in case the tape ever fails. Patience is the key. Expect this to take a couple of hours. Regards, Tim Schwartz Bristol Electronics |
