Digital Compact Cassette - how do you modify an analogue tape to record on a DCC deck
"Windows X" wrote in message
trafeed.com I have a DCC (digital compact cassette) recorder and I wanna know how to modify an analogue cassette to record on my deck? I did a google/google groups search and found some info, but no real in depth explanation or pictures on how it's done. The mods must be mechanical You might try to buy some DCC media to see what mechanical mods to perform. Here's a list of sources of DCC media: http://home5.swipnet.se/~w-59099/dcc/Company.htm |

Get a chrome tape and cut that notch in it. Some brands will work better than others. The last I looked, the BASF chrome duplicator bulk loads were okay, but that was a decade ago. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

Can I PLEASE get a straight answer on modifying a Cr02 Type II tape for DCC recording?

So can i get a straightforward answer on this please? I don't have a DCC tape to compare to a regular chrome tape. So you have a DCC recorder with NO tapes at all? You might be able to look and see where the feeler gadget at the top of the tape is. Can someone PLEASE give me possibly a link to a website with a tutorial (and possibly pics) for doing this? I doubt such a thing exists. Get a DCC tape and you'll find it is pretty obvious to see where the sensor notch is. Or if someone can reffer me to a picture of a modified tape, even better! Nearly ten years ago there was a discussion in Stereophile of doing it, probably with pictures. They decided it was a bad idea. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

XWindows DUUUDE: you will NEVER get a straight answer from this Dorsey
guy. He appears all patient and cooperative and all, BUT it's just a ploy: I have been asking him for years now how to modify my 8-track cartridges to read the 18-minute gap from an Echoplex and it's just DELAY DELAY DELAY. You should try another newsgroup. Quickly. In article , Scott Dorsey wrote: Windows X wrote: So can i get a straightforward answer on this please?
