Audiophile Headphones that will work with the Mophie Case on theApple 5s Case
The mophie case has a long narrow hole for the headphones. They supply a short
extender. I think it's hokey. I have Seinhowser headphone with mic that fit, but I want to run to the gym and plug them in and the plugs with the mic won't plug in at the gym. I'm looking for headphones that will work and plug into the gym tv. Without having to use the Mophie Extender. I'm a professional musician and sound is very important to me. |

#1. If a smart phone accessory(a case, screen protector) interferes with one or more of the phone's BASIC functions, like plugging headphones or an Aux jack, it should be recalled from market and not sold until a redesign.
#2. Return your Mophie brand case for a full refund and find another case! With that out of the way, your 5s should amply drive the Bowers & Wilkins now storming the market, the Grado SR60 thru 125, a Sennheiser HD-280, as well as any TRRS(mic equiped) cans or buds. |

Why not use an extension cable or an adaptor that is thin enough to fit?

I ran into this problem for an iSkin case I bought for my iPod. In this case the hole provided was circular but with a diameter too small for my Etymotic 6s. So I took a drill bit that was a little bigger than the hole, I turned the bit by hand so to shave through a bigger diameter. I turned the bit by hand because I was afraid I'd crack the plastic if I turned it with the motor. It worked great, didn't take long, and it looks good too. I suppose this could be done through a slot, but you might have a hard time keeping the bit centered. -- Matt |

Shouldn't have to force consumers to buy adapters for a function as basic as plugging in headphones/buds. The problem is that 3.5mm plugs are rarely long and narrow. And for a good reason. The plug wouldn't be as sturdy, and the torque on the jack would be greater, increasing the chance of damage. |

The problem with making a hole wide enough for "any" plug is that it might weaken the case. My iRiver H120 came with a real leather carrying case and a short adapter to allow headphone with "fat" plugs to be fitted (as the Brits would say). |

Other than having to use the short headphone adapter, I love the Mophie case. I've used them for IPHONE 3 for years. I chronically drop my IPHONE and the Mophies protected them. The only time I broke my glass was when I dropped it on the ground, glass side down and there were pebbles there. And, I love the battery on the Mophie. I need the battery on the Mophie. |

I love the Mophie's protective case. A Seinhowser Headset fits without an adaptor, but won't plug into the TV at the gym. And the Seinhowser, sounds pretty good, but when you listen to Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture it breaks up. |

... A Seinhowser Headset fits without an adaptor, but won't plug into the TV at the gym. That IS an important concern, yes, it is not possible to do serious audio production work without being plugged into the tv at the gym. And the Seinhowser, sounds pretty good, but when you listen to Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture it breaks up It is not always the transducer that distorts when distortion occurs. Additional options to consider are the ears and the playback device and most certainly pre-existing distortion in the track you play back. Kind regards Peter Larsen |

Consumer product designers make products that are intended to be as cheap as possible and appeal to as many people as possible. If they don't do what you want, if they don't work the way you want them to, change them. Humans are tool-using animals, it is what sets us apart from most lower animals. Do not be afraid to void warranties, do not take some lawyer's claim that there are no user serviceable parts inside. Change it until it does what you want. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
