Default Advent Legacy II Speaker Driver

Would anyone know, the DC resistance for the main driver, and the impedance
of the main driver used in the Advent Legacy II speaker box?

I know that the total speaker unit is rated at 6 ohms. I need to know the
bass driver's DC resistance.

Thanks.

Jerry,

You can measure the DC resistance with an ohmmeter. I don't know why you want to know that
value -- speakers are not operated a 0 Hz (DC), and a speaker's real impedance is always
substantially higher than the DC resistance.

Many "8 Ohm" speakers are around 6 Ohms in the mid-band, but are still considered nominally
(and legitimately) to be 8 Ohms. The impedance is higher in the bass range, and higher in
the treble band, for different reasons, but that's the way it is. Manufacturers who make
speakers actually rated nominally at 6 Ohms, are likely letting the impedance drop in the
midrange, to probably 4-5 Ohms. This gives them better sensitivity ratings (they're drawing
more power from the amplifier, loading it more heavily), which are based on Voltage, not
power, unfortunately. Sleaze sells. Ignorance buys.

Default Advent Legacy II Speaker Driver

I want to know this, because I have a pair of drivers for both the Legacy II
and the Prodigy II that the voice coils are burned. I want to know the DC
resistance to compare to an inventory of drivers that I have access to. I
know that the crossover is at 2.5 kHz, the total speaker box is 6 ohms, and
I need a driver that is for an acoustic suspension design. The last thing I
need, is to match the impedance.

My other option is to get my speaker rebuilt, or order a rebuilt speaker
from over the net. The rebuild will want to know the DC resistance and the
impedance just the same, so that he can wind a new coil for it.
