Help! Mackie 1402-VLZ + Stereo Effects Routing?
Clueless person alert!
I bought a TC Electronic Stereo Effects processor. The Mackie has The Aux 1 and Aux 2 inputs; no problem there. What I dont get is the output, do I plug the Left to Aux 1 and the Right to Aux 2? If so, does this change anything else I need to know? Is then Aux 1 essentially controlling 'Left part of Stereo processed Signal' and Aux 2 with the right? There is also a switch in the back of the processor which routs things differently, if someone with a clue wishes to explain how it should be set and why. Thanx, I stink at this, feel free to email an answer. Mike |

Often, people use only one AUX send into a device (like your TC) and come back out stereo (into a return). Using both AUX 1 and 2 is probably a waste. But if you don't need AUX 2 for anything else, you can try it. |

Wont I lose the stereo of the patch? Wow I stink at this. I tried the Left = Aux 1 Right = Aux 2 and it doesnt work; meaning a patch which shows real stereo left/right parts, or panning, has the effect of the Processor, but the patch sound is now as mono. Thanx again! Mike |

Thanx again! The Aux outputs on the Mackie stereo channels (and most other lower priced mixers stereo channels) are summed mono. If you need to preserve the stereo image from a stereo keydoard or synth, you have to use two mono channels for each stereo instrument & 2 separate Aux outputs for your right & left stereo. |

If you need to preserve the

My goal = have this available to each simultaneously, like a true stereo Aux Send and Stereo Returns; is the Mackie capable of this? Wow I am dumb about this. No worries, I'm having fun with it; T.C Electronics M300 I think is the name. $199 and a real nice reverb sound for the Nord, what a difference it makes! Mike |

Channels 1 & 3 should be panned hard left. Channels 2 & 4 should be panned hard right. Aux2 on channels 1 & 3 should be all the way down, and Aux1 should be all the way down on channela 2 & 4. The Aux1 pre/post switch should set to Post (Down). And the EXF to Monitor button (and the Mut/Alt 3-4 buttons for channels 1 - 4 should be Off (Up). The Aux1 Master and Aux1 return should both be at Unity. Aux2 return should be all the way down. Aux1 send should feed the TC Left input & Aux2 send should feed TC Right. The output from the TC should go into the Left & Right inputs of Stereo Aux Return 1. Then, it should work. Another person mention that the left side of the effects send should also be labeled mono; and ive seen this with many units, this one does not; it has Left and Right, two each for both Input and Output. You're talking about the input on the TC, right? Not the effects send on the mixer (which is mono). Does ithe unt have any kind of switch for mono or summed input? Again thanx for the help; my goal is this: I can hook up the Nord or Triton in through the Processor straight away, LandR outs into the inputs on the processor, one out each into a channel on the Mackie. But you have to kind of trick it. There are always compromises in building a low priced compact mixer, but IMO Mackie does a pretty good job with their signal routing, so you can usually make it do what you need (within reason). |
