Default Interfacing converters from a DAW to Neotek Series II

I use 2 ramsa da96's and run them into a neotek series II should i be
running the outs of my converters into the mic preamps or into the
channel inserts? Currently i am running them into the pres my thinking
it that it will give the stuff coming out a balsy sound as well as
letting me drive things. What do you guys suggest? Should I instead
wire them into the aux gear inputs and use the patchbay to run them
into the "channel line inputs?
Thanks,
David
