Default Sick Tascam 238 followup

Hello All,

Just a followup...

Came across a Tascam 238 that "whistled" upon power up and
played/recorded at about 5x speed.

Apparantly, UPS had dropped the box (obvious crush marks). There was
no external damage to the unit and the unit was packaged well.
Nonetheless, the shock was enough to put a hairline crack across the
motor drive printed circuit board. Ouch! Anyway...

Replacement pcb from the factory runs about $111 plus tax and just
under three hours shop labor.

Good thing the seller/buyer had arranged insurance.

Simply trading notes, it appears that the standard opening line when
filing a claim is that the items were inadequately packaged and that
it's up to the shipper (claim holder) to present the objective
evidence.

Best,
Andy
