Default McIntosh MC-40 small-tube replacement ?

One of my MC-40s has a sound (from the speaker) that could be
described as
a loud whispering or scratching. Swapping tubes reveals it to be the
12AX7
(the one with the metal shield).

Should I replace just this one, or go ahead and replace all 4 (per
amp) of the
small-signal tubes (12AX7 * 2, 12AU7, 12BH7) ?

Not trying to cheap out, but no point in replacing a tube with one
that may
be inferior, and I've always had the impression that the non-output
tubes tend
to last forever.

Please advise, thanks, John
