Default recommendation - direct boxes

Anyone have any thoughts on direct boxes to share?

For fairly inexpensive boxes (that is, less than the cost of an Evil Twin,
an Avalon, or a Millennia TD-1), I really like the Radial Engineering J48.
For a bit more, the Little Labs DI is lovely.

For outright cheap, a Stewart or something like it will likely get the job
done.

Absolutely. Another middle of the road DI that I find quite acceptable
is the BSS AR-133... even has an XLR input. (Please do not confuse
this item with the Behringer clone which has a transformer about the
size of a couple of pencil erasers and costs about 1/6th of the BSS).

Yeah, I am - two of 'em for active DI's. I also use the cheap Rolls DB25 for
passive.

Mostly, I use either the DI's on my GR's or VMP-2.
