Default Question on CD cassette adapter for car. Sony. Sound cuts out when weather is hot

I bought my girlfriend a protable handheld CD player for her car (no
where to physically mount one in Taurus).

The Sony Walkman came with a car cassette adapter. All worked fine for
a few months but then sound started to cut out.

I then purchased her another casette adapter for about $20 and this
worked fine for a few months as well. Now that weather has gotten
hot-it will work in the morning but sound will cut out at noon or in
the afternoon as car gets hot due to weather.

At least this is the story she passed on. Sounds reasonable.

Are there any such casette adapters that might tolerate the heat
better (90+ degrees in Charlotte, NC)?

I did clean the heads of the cassette player to no avail.

Thanks in advance. There may be no solution actually. An FM adapter
may not work as well-not sure, have not tried one yet.

Thanks so much
Joe

aftermarket CD head unit out of the option?
You can get a decent one for well under $100...

Just a thought

Perhaps. Strange radio shape in the Taurus' of her year. And know
rectangular place to fit. Will look around.
Thanks much

If the Taurus has rotary climate controls (rather than pushbuttons) an
installation kit is available to install an aftermarket head unit.

Default Taurus aftermaket deck install kit?

Does more than one manufacturer/vendor make these?
If so, which is best?
I read a review that said the aftermarket faceplate is junk, doesn't
fit properly, rattles and doesn't match the appearance of the OEM
faceplate material very well.
