why cds won't play in car
OK. What's the deal? I burn CDs with Nero, and they play fine on the
computer, but won't play in car cd players. Is there a compatability issue? And, if so, how do I bridge that gap? |

Some car CD players won't ever play a CD-R, and others will play only certain CD-Rs. Is there a compatibility issue? Well known. And, if so, how do I bridge that gap? (1) Try other burning speeds (2) Try other brands of media (3) Try other burner and/or player |

Burn slower and try different media. In my experience any audio burned at 4x or above tends to have problems in some picky players. With Sony media, 2x burning, and a LiteOn CD burner, I've never had a problem in any player. YMMV based on your burner though--it sometimes takes iterations to find what media works best. But I bet if you burn slower, your problems will go away. -- /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign | Todd H \ / | http://www.toddh.net/ X Promoting good netiquette | http://triplethreatband.com/ / \ http://www.toddh.net/netiquette/ | "4 lines suffice." |

Don't know if I have the same "problem", but my car cd player won't play the cd made on an 80 min cd; I need to burn the music on the 74 min cd which are getting harder to find. |

I wonder how old the player is, if it's ever been cleaned, what speed the
discs were burned at. A player in good condition should play a properly burned disc every time. Mark Z. -- Please reply only to Group. I regret this is necessary. Check with the mfg if your car deck is older. |

Yes, but that was a burner. Merely playing a disc, with VERY few exceptions,
has no firmware or other limitations based on 80 min vs. 74 min discs. The only example I can think of was the old Marantz CD-63 and similar models which wouldn't play long discs fully to the end, presumably a mechanical limitation. The car cd player is probably a 1991 model as the car is a 1992 model. The 80 min discs were either burned with Nero or copied with a stand-alone recorder (Philips 880). Don't what know what is supposed to work but the 80 min disc didn't and the 74 min played; the same 80 min discs do work on both the home cd player and a portable cd player.. -- Please reply only to Group. Yeah, maybe time to get a new player anyway. Certainly cleaning this one
wouldn't hurt. Surprising it plays at all after 11 or 12 years in a car. Mark Z. -- Please reply only to Group. I regret this is necessary.
