This made it into CNN's Breaking News email distribution.
Not much does, maybe a couple of items a week. I wish he
could know that. That's what I call respect.

His first appearance as "Rodney Dangerfield" was in the late 60's I believe. He
was known as Jack Roy(?) or something like that before he changed his name.

BTW...I'm 49...and holding.

I loved the line about his wife showing him some respect: "I told her I wanted
to have sex. She left the room so I could have some privacy". --TP

Yep. What a comic musician. Played all the parts and was never given the
respect for the efforts.

While 82 is too young to die these days (I hope, I hope), Rodney was
inspirational even in the early 60s, perhaps even far more than Lenny was.
Certainly Rusty Warren gives Rodney his props by stepping out on Knockers
Up, and it worked it's way into ribald humour all over the place. And for
it being the 60s, that's one hell of a statement. For all practical
purposes, most of the really great comdedians of the time were coming off
having played the Playboy show. Bob Newhart, Rodney, Buddy Hackett and
numerous others weren't really on the Tonight Show for the TV part of it,
but got up and entertained the crowd during commercial breaks. I remember
Buddy talking about an appearance where he told a joke to the crowd during a
break and it took fully two minutes to get the crowd back into what was
happening on the Tonight Show.

Seems there's this man problem where an erection won't go away, and after
about 6 hours of severe pain this guy decides he needs to do something about
it, so he goes to his local pharmacy. Well, it turns out that there's a
woman behind the counter, but undetered, the man asks if there is a
pharmacist he can talk to.

Ah, but the pharmacist is a woman too, and the counter woman's sister, so he
decides to just ask straight out about the problem, so he whips down his
pants and says "What can you give me for this?". Both women look shocked,
but decide they need to discuss the issue.

After a short while they come back and tell him "Well, how about $500 and
half an interest in the store?"

God bless all of the comedians that have come and gone, along with those who
make us laugh today. Lord knows we need more laughter in our lives, and we
need more like Rodney in our hearts. RIP dear friend, although you never
knew me.

I went to Vegas in particular to see Rodney at the MGM grand; but
almost everthing was cancelled after Sept 11th. I was there on the
14th or something.

Hope He finds some respect..
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

I asked a cab driver to take where i could find some action, he took
me to my house.

I found My wife's bra in the back of a rental car.

MY Wife Likes to talk during sex; now she phones me up.

The other day i came home early and there was a guy jogging naked in
front my house, I say hey Buddy what are ya doing, he says "You came
home early"

A bum came up to me on the street and says " I haven't eaten for 5
days", i tell him, you should really try.

I went to the Proctologist and he puts his finger in my Mouth.

When i was born the Doctor slapped my mother.

My Doctor told me i had six months to live, I said i wanted a 2nd
opinion, he said "You're Ugly Too".

Check out http://www.rodney.com they have a joke of the day

we'll miss him

I heard at least recorded clip of that quip in Rodney's own voice on a local
radio fm radio stsation last week that said "I don't get no respect; when I

was
born the doctor slapped my mother" with no mention of Rodney's looks. However
I'm guessing that there may be dozens of recorded incidents of this quip in
many slightly different versions.

You're no doubt right. But I swear I heard the "I was so ugly" version recently.
